Adult web site designers now have a way to demonstrate their skills and
compare their talents with those of their peers in the first Design-a-Thon
"Tour Off." Commencing on May 15th, 2002, participants will begin the
process of creating a 3-page adult web site tour plus 'join' page using
the licensed content, theme, and domain provided by Design-a-Thon.
Participants must submit the final PSD with their completed project, and
the designs will be judged on their creativity and use of text.
Design-a-thon's goal is to provide adult webmaster's the opportunity of
sharing their style and technique with both their peers and new designers.
Since every designer has a portfolio it is rather difficult to compare
site-by-site the methods used to create a tour. The challenge with
Design-a-thon is that all designers will be issued the same content,
domain, and theme. This will enable a side-by-side comparison, and open
the path for discussion of approaches and practices. The PSD (source)
submitted by each participant will provide a "hands-on" tool for others to
learn with, while having the participant's discussion archive available
for later reference will give new designers a wealth of information that
is not available in a more traditional tutorial.
