AI System Helps ASACP Analyze Data

Wednesday, January 07, 2004

In November ASACP received over 2.2 million hits with 175,000 unique visitors, 4000 suspect child pornography (CP) reports, and reported 100 validated CP sites to the FBI, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and several hotlines in Europe.

With their new AI software, ASACP is able to more accurately track information on the suspect CP leads. A breakdown of reports shows that:

  • 42% are legitimate adult sites ‚

  • 30% are previously reported sites ‚

  • 17% are under 18 nude "art" sites ‚

  • 5% are not websites ‚

  • 4% are bad URLs ‚

  • 2% are valid new unique CP leads reported

"These numbers demonstrate the benefits that ASACP provides to both the FBI and the adult site community. Since ASACP forwards only validated CP reports to the FBI, their agents can focus their investigations on apprehending these criminals. ASACP does not forward reports of legitimate adult sites, so these sites may not end up in a government database. Additionally, Tim Henning, the ASACP Compliance and Site Review Manager has identified another trend. There is an increase of reports of ´under 18 nude art´ sites because the feeder sites contain CP and numerous pop ups lead to ´lolita´ labeled sites and topsites. We are starting to watch this to determine if it is the same group that is using legitimate affiliate programs as we previously reported," said Joan Irvine, executive director,
